What Backpack With Me is

Backpack With Me is an introduction between two people: a rider with an empty seat, and a passenger who wants to go where that seat is going.

That is all it is. We are not a taxi service, a tour operator, or a transport company. We do not employ riders, own motorcycles, plan routes, or carry anyone anywhere. When you agree to a ride, the agreement is between you and the other person. We are not part of it.

We do not check anyone

This is the most important thing on this page, so it is not buried further down.

We do not verify identity. We do not check licences, insurance, riding experience, or the condition of any motorcycle. Nobody on this platform has been vetted by us. A name, a photo, and a description are what someone typed about themselves.

If we ever start checking something, we will say exactly what we check and show it clearly. Until then, assume nothing has been checked, because nothing has.

Riding a motorcycle carries risk

Motorcycles offer less protection than cars. Crashes are more likely to cause serious injury or death. Weather, road surface, traffic, and the skill and judgement of the person riding all affect how a journey ends.

You accept that risk yourself. If you get on a motorcycle you found through Backpack With Me, you do so by your own decision, and you carry the consequences.

We are not responsible for injury, death, loss, or damage arising from a ride. We cannot be: we are not there, we did not check anyone, and we have no control over what happens on the road.

Before you ride

You decide whether a ride is safe. Nobody else can decide that for you.

• Ask about licence, insurance, and experience. Ask to see documents.
• A helmet is required by law in most places, and is worth wearing everywhere. If the rider cannot provide one that fits you, do not ride.
• Meet in a public place in daylight before agreeing to a long journey.
• Tell someone you trust where you are going and who with.
• If anything feels wrong, cancel. You never owe anyone a ride or a seat.

If you are the rider: ride within the law and within your ability, carry the insurance your country requires, and do not carry a passenger your motorcycle or your licence does not permit.

Your account

You need an account to use the app. Keep it to yourself and do not let anyone else use it.

Be honest in what you write about yourself. Do not pretend to be someone else, and do not offer a ride you do not intend to give.

You can delete your account at any time. We can close an account if someone uses the platform to harm, harass, deceive, or endanger another person — and we will, without waiting to be asked twice.

Money

There is no payment system. Nothing is charged, and nothing is paid through us.

Whether a passenger contributes to fuel is between the two people involved. We take no part in it and we hold no money.

What we do not promise

The service is provided as it is. We do not promise it will be available, uninterrupted, or free of faults, and we do not promise that anyone you meet through it will be who they say they are, be pleasant, turn up, or ride safely.

Nothing here removes rights you have under the law where you live. Where the law gives you a protection we cannot exclude, you keep it.

Changes

We will change these terms as the product grows. When we do, we will ask you to read and accept them again the next time you open the app. The date at the top of this page is when it last changed.
